Despite my A4U competition entry bouncing around the SERPS, I am please to see it is still climbing! I havent done any work on the site for a while, yet the rankings are still climbing! Heres a few of the positions I have recorded over the last couple of weeks
15th July – NOT RANKED
16th July – 12th (Backlinks dropped from 2000, to around 1500)
22nd July – NOT RANKED
24th July – 10th
26th July – NOT RANKED
28th July – 6th (Backlinks dropped from 1500, to just over 1000)
So at the minute it is sitting nicely at 6th, although Im guessing it wil drop again over the next couple of days, and hopefully come back a bit stronger again! I have also noticed that as the number of backlinks drop, the rank seems to be jumping up…the only thing I can think is that the massive influx of 2000 backlinks in a couple of hours caused me some sort of penalty, and now as they are dieing off the penalty is slowly being reduced.
This is the first site where I have had a problem with the SERPS jumping around, however I cant pin point what has caused it as I have tried a few different things with this site which I havent used on any other sites. Im still confident that once its settled in place, with a little more work and adding the final products I can take the top position.

Good to see I’m not the only one with the bouncing syndrome! If I could have a go at guessing why it’s happening for you I’d say it has to be due to the quantity of links. You’re domain is very new and in the space of a few weeks has built up XXXX backlinks. This to me feels like one of two things 1) A very successfull launch of a new site that has garnered some good quality links or 2) A site that has been recently put together and just had a shitload of money thrown at it to build a lot of links.
I’d say the bouncing around is Google’s guess at deciding which one of these two kinds of site you are and if I were a more knowledgeable SEO person, I’d say a handful of well placed, high quality links (possibly paid for on rich, related content sites with good age, reputation and domain popularity) would stabalise your rankings.
Feels to me like the site just needs a little bit of credibility to come across as the successful launch rather than the spammy one!
I have every confidence this one will sit nice for you in a few months.
I didnt intent on creating all those backlinks lol. I created a handful of backlinks on semi related jewellery posts (ones that hadnt been spammed to death!), however it resulted in site wide links on most of the sites!
As for a quality links, I think I have that covered
The site seems to be staying in the SERPS for longer, or only dropping a couple of places before bouncing back up again now (its down to 7th this morning compared to not being listed).
