TSOHost Review

Feb 24

I’ve just had me renewal bill through a few weeks back for my hosting which is done through TSOHost, so thought I would post up a quick TSOHost review now I have been with them for just over 1 year.

Firstly, if you want to take a look at what TSOHost have to offer before reading the rest of the review – click here to go to TSOHost.co.uk.

Firstly, I use TSOHost clustered hosting, which I was lucky enough to join before the price increase. This gives me hosting for up to 100 sites (each can be either windows or linux based) and I can add extra sites at the cost of 10p per site per month if/when I go over the 100 mark, 100GB of space and 1000GB of bandwidth. I ordered this package when it was £9.99 per month/£99.99 per year, however it is now £19.99 per month/£199.99 per year which is still a bargain!

In the last year, I have had NO noticable downtime (other than 1 scheduled downtime for a couple of hours). The monitoring software I have pointing at some of my sites has reported around 5 or 6 periods of downtime – each for no more than 5 minutes so this may have been due to problems other than the host (ie DNS problems). Now, by far the best thing about TSOHost that I want to cover in this review is their customer service!

All of my sites run really fast (40ms ping response time) compared to other hosts I have used and hosts other affiliates use (AffiliateMusketeer.com = 146ms & HowIGotRich.net = 144ms) and I have had no problem with sites running slow or falling over when they get more than a handful of visitors.

Whenever I have had a problem with anything I have emailed them and always had a response within a couple of minutes! Most of the problems were my fault – however they still helped out! I had a PHP script which stopped working on one of my sites (I later found out somebody else had edited it and make a mistake!). Obviously the first thing I did was email TSOHost and ask them to sort it out. Within a couple of minutes they emailed me back telling me exactly what the problem was and how to fix it even though it had nothing to do with them!

On top of the amazing customer services – one of the most important features for me – BACKUPS! Backups are done every 15 minutes with a 1 month retention – and you have access to them all online!!! This has saved me so many times when I have broke one of my own sites and not had a backup myself!

The only “negative” is that TSOHost do not use CPanel, but instead their own custom control panel which works really well! Why a negative then? Becuase when you first transfer your sites to them you can not simply import your cpanel accounts. I needed to import all my sites manually. The good news is that I wont need to worry about exporting them as I have no intentions of leaving TSOHost any time soon!

So to conclude my TSOHost Review, Its the best host I have ever used, I have no intention of leaving them, and would have no problem recommending anyone to them.

If there is anything I have missed from my TSOHost review, feel free to drop a comment below and I’ll try my best to answer it for you.

I completely agree with your review Shane as I am on exactly the same package (at the discounted price!).

I started off on the lower packages but when we decided to take AM seriously we upgraded to the best solution available for the £!

Darren and Adam provide excellent support, at all hours, and as you say go over and above to help you out.(Even if it’s nothing to do with their platform!)

I too would give their service a 10/10, nothing comes close in my experience!

Glad to see someone else making use of them and having the same experience! I used TSOHost for the company I used to work for and was amazed with them compared to the poor quality hosts I have been using for my affiliate sites, so as soon as I had £100 spare I switched to them and paid the whole year. Best thing I ever did. Would recommend anyone serious about affiliate marketing (or anything to do with websites) “invests” in a decent host rather than these cheap $5 a month unlimited everything hosts that seem to pop up and disappear every other day.

I can whole-heartedly agree too! Have used numerous hosts over the years, and have now been with TSOHost for about 18 months, and not had a single problem! Love their control panel, and the flexibility of the ‘cloud’ hosting. Thumbs up from me too!

Yeah love them also.. though I am on the more expensive plan of 17 a month lol.. But bought then on your recommendation! So thanks again

£17 a month? Never seen it at that price. Thought it went from £9.99 straight to £19.99.

Seems like quite a few affiliates are using them now then :) Just need to convince Lee @ Affiliate Musketeer to drop his £100 a month slow server and switch to them :)

  6. Mansoor says:

yeah it was 17 a month……I have several more hosting requirements coming up if there are any other good uk ones then let me know :)

    OK, OK….

I am looking into TSO Host now. I’ll certainly test their customer services skills because I’ll need the smoothest transition possible. Here we go…

Well, I signed up after all…I am in the process of transferring all of my sites over to them. It is quite a headache if I’m honest but I just keep thinking about the £120 a month saving to get me through it. I have about 40 sites to transfer over and at the moment it’s taking me at least an hour per site – that’s if I do only that. Trouble is I tend to get sidetracked as I wait for files to download/upload etc etc.

Control panel seems to be easy enough and is quite intuitive and everything seems to be OK so far. I’ve managed to get one of my biggest affiliate sites over to the new server and it has made a sale since the move, so fingers crossed I’m all good there. I am running into trouble with some of my older wordpress sites and sites that use a number of databases (forums/custom controls/wordpress/auctions) etc. simply because it is just a headache to recreate databases exactly.

I am on the £19.99 a month plan with a £9.99 reseller package added into it and was able to get 10% off the total monthly price with voucher code TENPERCENT

So far so good but is a headache to transfer over.

  9. admin says:

Pleased to see you transfer over finally Lee.

When I transferred all my sites over I just exported the database and imported it again, downloaded all the files, changed the database connection file, uploaded them – done!

Easiest way to think of it is that if it takes an hour a site, thats 40 hours. In a year you will save £1440 – not a bad way to “earn” £36 an hour!

I just can’t fault the team at TSO Host.

The clustered soltion is awesome and I just keep migrating more and more sites over.

The only negative that I found (and it will not affect many) is that I couldn’t configure the MySQL server to my spec .. supporting a minimum word length of 2 ( to support e.g. searches for DS related products).

I solved that quickly by taking out an inexpensive Virtual Database Server (VDS) from TSO Host in addition to my clustered hosting.

I can only endorse what is said about the support. It seems like any time of day, support is only a couple of minutes away .. and it is real support rather than scripted useless responses whether or not is is a hosting issue (rare) versus your own coding problem.

Can’t recommend TSO enough, been with them for over 2 years now and am going to be porting a bunch of sites from a managed server ‘elsewhere’ over to them.

I notice this review states: “The only “negative” is that TSOHost do not use CPanel” – well they do use CP with mine! at least with my Pro account, so I don’t know where that comes from.

I’ve been using Plesk for a few years now and had a number of Apache/Plesk ownership conflicts when using MODX CMS, but I don’t get any of this with TSO/CPanel. Keep it up guys!
